The following measures can be taken to avoid mechanical sand adhesion in gearbox castings:

1. Avoid high metal hydrostatic pressure heads, and ensure that the riser height is not too high while meeting the casting shrinkage conditions. Avoid pouring the ladle directly into the sprue at a high position. If necessary, use a pot shaped sprue cup to buffer the metal flow and form a constant high hydrostatic pressure head.

2. Try to use casting sand with finer particle size.

3. The use of resin sand for molding and core making cannot rely solely on the good flowability of the molding sand. It is necessary to ensure compactness and, if necessary, vibration should be supplemented.

4. Excessive coal powder and moisture should not be added to the molding sand.

5. Reduce the dynamic pressure generated within the model.

6. Use effective coatings for molds or cores.

The following measures can be taken to avoid chemical sand sticking:

1. The purity, sintering point, and refractoriness of sand used in casting vary greatly depending on the source of sand supply. High purity silica sand or non quartz sand with pouring points above 1450 ℃ will reduce sand adhesion.

2. Adding about 5% coal powder to wet clay sand can prevent sand sticking in small and medium-sized castings

3. Due to the low ignition point of the mixture, water glass sand must be coated with paint. Sodium silicate and old sand should not be excessive in sand mixing, and adding coal powder in moderation can help prevent sand sticking.
